Weird Al will drop a new single on iTunes next week!

Straight from the man himself:

_____________

NEW SINGLE!

Remember when I said I was going to start releasing tracks to iTunes as soon as I finished recording them? Well, I'm in the studio this very moment – and the first track released from my next album will be available on iTunes a week from today (October 7)!

This is extremely exciting for me. One of the hardest things I've had to deal with in my career is keeping my material topical even though I only release albums every 3 or 4 years. Now, with the advent and popularity of digital distribution, I don't have to wait around while my songs get old and dated – I can get them out on the Internet almost immediately. It kind of boggles my mind – I thought of the idea for this new song a week ago, and next week it's getting released!

I'm only supposed to "tease" this release right now – I'll post more info about it in a couple days. But I will say that it's a parody of a song that very recently was (or perhaps still is) the 1 song in the country. That would be another first for me – I don't think I've ever released a parody of a song while the original song was still 1!

iTunes will have an exclusive on this song for two weeks, after which I guess it will be available wherever else digital downloads are sold. But I'm really kind of hoping this sucker will chart, so if you can, please buy it the first week it's out!

If this release goes well, there will be more to come. Thanks in advance for your support!

Congratulations Jennie!

Alright all you rabid DAP fans out there. That's right, I'm talking to BOTH of you. Let's all raise a glass (or pair of glasses if you're at work) to Michael's wonderful sister who is getting married this weekend. Hazzah! (Mazel-Tov if you're Jewish) Jennie, congratulations, it's killing me that I can't be there with you all to celebrate your big day. You know that you S*****s (even "soon-to-be-formerly-known-as-S*****s") are just as good as family to us W*******s (at least the ones who live at my house). Congratulations! See you all soon!

It's Fall Baby!

Steve and I are back from a long break and talking about our favorite subject. Beer! Specifically, Oktoberfest beer. This is the month of Oktoberfest so if you have not already done so, go out and pick up some Sam Adams "Octoberfest" or some other type. You can check out the beers Steve and I like here.

Because I said I would show everyone, here is a picture of me from the beach. Yes, I did wear this in public. It really looks better when Mike (on the far left) wore his. Oh well. Sadly I tossed the shirt into the dryer and it shrank to the size of a face cloth.

The opening song was Jack Black's "School of Rock" in appreciation of Steve heading back to school for another nine month tour of duty. The closing song was K. C. & the Sunshine Band's "Shake Your Booty" in tribute to my happy hour at the Piratz Tavern earlier today. You can check out the pictures from my pirate night at my Flickr page.
